چکیده
A simple model for the dust media describing evolution of the system like spiral galaxy is considered. In contrast to previous considerations we show that the initial density fold should be quasi-one-dimensional (bar-like) instead of disc-like. The disc component of the galaxies appears only during the evolution. The model naturally reproduces some essential features of the galaxies. In particular, it reproduces all the observed typical forms of the rotation curves for the spiral galaxies with a characteristic minimum and plateau. It appears that the plateau corresponds to escaping the matter (external spiral arms, due to initial conditions, have too large velocities to be confined by the gravitational field of the galaxy). Such a scenario of the galaxy evolution leads to the conclusion that the hypothesis of the dark matter is not necessary (at least, for the spiral galaxies).

We present MOND analysis for several of the lowest mass disc galaxies currently amenable to such analysis–with (baryonic) masses below 4 · 108M⊙. The agreement is good, extending the validity of MOND and its predicted mass velocity relation, to such low masses. Subject headings: dark matter galaxies: kinematics and dynamics

We consider the singular configurations of gravitating gas [1] which could be used as a model for disk galaxies. The simplest steady configuration , which corresponds to rotation of stars around center gives flat rotational curve, provided the density distrubution has a tail, decaying as 1/r. This result based exclusively on Newtonian gravity and does not involve dark matter.

We present the rotation curves of 967 spiral galaxies, obtained by deprojecting and folding the raw Hα data published by Mathewson et al.(1992). Of these, 80 meet objective excellence criteria and are suitable for individual detailed mass modelling, while 820 are suitable for statistical studies. A preliminary analysis of their properties confirms that rotation curves are a universal function o...

In the last 20 years, rotation curves derived from H I kinematics obtained on radio synthesis instruments were used to probe the dark matter distribution in spiral and dwarf irregular galaxies. It is shown, with the aid of the Sd galaxy NGC 5585, that high resolution 2–D H II kinematics is necessary to determine accurately the mass distribution of spirals. New CFHT Fabry–Perot Hα observations a...

I summarize a series of studies where the underlying theme is to exploit non-axisymmetry disk structures such as bars and spiral arms. By measuring the strength of gravitational forces from these structures we can measure the mass in them. The advantage of this approach is that mass to light ratios can be constrained in a way independent of the dark matter profile. By examining a variety of typ...
